Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer 0.80, by Foxmarks LLC, released on Sep 25, 2006

If you use Firefox on more than one computer, you'll want Foxmarks. Install Foxmarks on each computer, and it will work silently in the background to keep your bookmarks synchronized. As a bonus, log in to my.foxcloud.com from any computer anywhere to access your bookmarks.

A simple wizard guides you through the startup process. After that, just forget about it. It's simple and solid.

BookmarkDD is a very useful extension that helps you manage your bookmarks. It notices you when duplicate bookmark is added, specify where is the previous URL and give you the choice to change the parent folder of duplicate bookmark. There is also a window to manage all duplicate bookmarks already in your bookmarks.
By default, the duplicate bookmarks manager will automatically delete duplicates which are in same folder. And it is also possible to specify a default folder where all duplicates within it will be automatically deleted. It is very helpful to merge two bookmarks. Now, when you have merged bookmarks' files you can move all folders of one file to a specific folder (example: 'imported') and select this folder to automatically delete duplicates within it. After this operation you still have to arrange bookmarks not deleted from 'imported' folder.
Remark 1: Automatic deletion of bookmarks is done when the duplicate bookmark manager's window is opened.
Remark 2: If you just have sync your bookmarks (with another extension) you need to restart firefox before to search duplicate bookmarks.

Bonus: if you think it is difficult to find a bookmark within all of them this extension has a solution. BookmarkDD add the possibility to search strings within bookmark's fields: location, description and keyword.

So wie das bei http://del.icio.us "von selber" passiert:

Zu jeder Information, die man ablegt werden passende "Tags" (Stichwörter, die das Thema klassifizieren) definiert.
Zwischen den einzelnen Tags entstehen somit Beziehungen, häufiger genutzte Tags rutschen in der "Hierarchie" nach oben und bilden somit im Laufe der Zeit die "Hauptknoten" oder "Einstiegspunkte".

Die sich so entwickelnde Taxonomie ist somit kein herkömmlicher Baum, sondern ein Netz, weil ja jeder Eintrag mehrere Tags haben kann.

Vorteile:
- Keine leere, vorher aufgestellte Struktur, die später nur zum Teil gefüllt ist und somit viele "Sackgssen" enthält.

- Eine Information ist in der Stuktur automatisch an allen Stellen zu finden, wo sie hinpaßt und nicht nur an der einen Stelle wo man sie (in einer statischen Struktur) einmal abgelegt hat.

- Die entstehende Stuktur spiegelt die tatsächliche Informationsstruktur wieder, nicht einen einmal erdachten und somit nur begrenzt weiterentwickelbaren Baum.

Bleibt die Frage:
Wie organisiert man eine lokale Festplatte in dieser Art ???

"Nach der schweren Flutkatastrophe in Südasien sollen rund 200 Freizeittaucher helfen, die beschädigten Korallenriffe im Andamanischen Meer zu retten. Der thailändische Meeresforscher Sakanan Plathong sagte am Donnerstag, 20 Prozent der untersuchten Riffe rund um die Similan-Inseln seien durch das Seebeben und die meterhohen Wellen angegriffen worden. Mehr als die Hälfte der Riffe sei jedoch lediglich umgestürzt und könne überleben, wenn es den Tauchern gelänge, sie wieder aufzurichten. Die Similan-Inseln gelten als thailändisches Taucherparadies. Das Programm der Vereinten Nationen für Entwicklung (PNUD) hatte am Dienstag erklärt, dass nur fünf Prozent der Korallenriffe an der thailändischen Küste durch die Flutwellen beschädigt worden seien. Besonders betroffen seien indes die Similan-Inseln und das Urlaubsparadies Phi Phi. Laut PNUD hängt die Zukunft des Ökotourismus und der Fischer vor Ort zu einem großen Teil von der Rettung der Riffe ab."
